Refilling Our Cups: A Day of Reflection and Reconnection!
Connected towards a common vision. Staff lock hands to demonstrate the power of unity and connection within workspaces.
On 14th July, the TIH team gathered in Dzaleka, for a Staff Retreat, a day to pause, reflect, and refuel. The session was facilitated by Hilary Murdoch, a team coach originally from the UK who has spent the past 13 years supporting NGOs across Southern Africa. With warmth and insight, Hilary created a safe and energizing space for us to reconnect with ourselves, our purpose, and each other.
Throughout the day, we learned how to be present and enjoy every moment of our work life, to value each other’s role in the organization, and to walk together in unity. We were reminded that everyone at There Is Hope is part of a shared journey, and that when one person falls, the whole team feels the impact. This renewed sense of connectedness encouraged us to support one another more intentionally, recognizing that our strength lies in our unity.
The retreat also focused on reconnecting with our inner positive energy, seeing the good in every situation, and reflecting that positivity in our daily work. But the impact does not end with us. When our team is healthy, motivated, and united, we are better equipped to serve the people who matter most, the refugees and host community members we work with every day. A refreshed team means more compassionate service, better decision-making, and deeper impact on the ground.
We walked away from the retreat recharged, realigned, and ready to keep walking the journey, together, and with purpose.
Moment of reflection and self awareness. Individuals take a 30 minutes personal reflection time, cumulating in forgiveness, forgetting, and offering prayer.
