African Development Bank Visits There Is Hope

We were honored to welcome a distinguished delegation from the African Development Bank (AfDB), led by the AfDB Country Manager for Malawi, Macmillan Anyanwu.

This special visit was part of the AfDB’s 60th Anniversary Celebrations, and we are deeply grateful that they chose to recognize the impactful work being done by There Is Hope (TIH) in empowering refugees and Malawians through education and skills development.

During the visit, Anyanwu highlighted the importance of exploring ways to collaborate and expand the banks reach and impact in Malawi through existing impactful institutions and organizations like TIH. He expressed admiration for TIH’s initiatives, particularly in the areas of education and skills development, and noted how closely they align with the bank’s areas of intervention. He also shared his enthusiasm for future collaborations and a stronger partnership between TIH and the AfDB.

As part of their 60th Anniversary Celebrations, the AfDB generously donated essential items to support TIH students, including body lotion, soap, cooking oil, food items, and other basic necessities.

Reflecting on the visit, TIH Executive Director, Cathreen Ndege-Chirwa, expressed her gratitude, saying:
“We are deeply thankful to the African Development Bank for their generous support and for recognizing the work we do at There Is Hope. This visit has strengthened our belief in the power of partnerships, and we are optimistic about the future collaborations that will enable us to create even greater impact together.”
